'Macca' gets knackered, 'Wings' get.....er winged. Not considered the most subtle of Christmas songs, this 1979 modern 'classic' by Paul McCartney and (actually not) Wings got the Millipede treatment on the 11th December 2016.
Lovingly crafted by: Ade, Alex, Asha (assistant producer) Ben, Chloe, Ellie, Freya, Guille, Lara (debut), Liv, Mariska, Mark, Micha, Mickey & Sharon.

For those who aren't Harry Belefonte fans, the definitive version of this Christmas ditty is forever associated with the famous German (but not famously German) band 'Boney M'. So after 37 years of dominance by Herr Farian and his protégés, the Millipede re-imagining arrived on 12th December 2015.
Vocal Talent: Ade, Alex, Andy, Ben, Liv, Mariska, Micha, Mickey, Penny, & Sharon.
Musical talent: Alex, Mark & Micha
Mindful of their future reputations and wisely staying off mic & camera (although Richard I can hear you in the background): Asha, Chloe, Ellie, Freya & Richard

Well at least WE made a litle bit of effort(unlike the England team).
in retrospect the decision not to do an alternative version was clearly a mistake.
'Vier, vier, zwei.
Nichts drei, vier, drei,
Oder einer Christbaum.
Deutschland los!
Deutschland los!'
Lead vocal: Alex Pond
The chorus:Ben Doyle, Liv Doyle, Chloe Doyle, Asha Koenig, Mariska Koenig, Micha Koenig, Alex Pond, Richard Pond, Sharon Pond, Mark Weedon

Hmmm... what can we say. Having destroyed the majority of modern(ish) classics, inspiration was sought from production legend and convicted murderer Phil Spector (we only murdered the song so hopefully won't get '19 to life').
Talent was pooled on the 14th of December and this is what we got....
Thanks to Ade, Andy Asha, Ben, Ellie, Freya, Guille, Liv, Mariska, Micha (who also provided bass), Mickey,Penny, Richard & Sharon.

You didn't really think you'd get more than one year off did you?......did you?......DID YOU!
It's Saturday the 17th of December, last years icy conditions have failed to make return appearance, no one is getting married, or at least no one we know and the tone deaf crew have assembled once again. It was kind of inevitable that Roy Wood would have his perennial favourite (irritant) massacred at some point and his time has come.
Thanks to Ade, Ben, Ellie, Freya, Guille, Liv, Mariska, Micha, Mickey, Richard, Sharon & Zak.
COME ON YOU LOT TAKE IT!!!

4-4-2 (2010) |
Re-jigged, re-recorded, pumped up and polished for 2010. |
Chanting from the terraces were Ben, Guille, Liv, Mariska & Micha. |

On Saturday the 12th December 2009 a clutch of forward thinking visionaries gathered together with the overriding credo that pitching and timing was "so 20th century". This year they'd set their sights on Jona Lewies' understated anti-war anthem. Ben and Micha masterminded a video document of the event, whoose visual delights matched the aural ones of the recording itself.
Thanks to Ade, Andy, Ben, Ellie, Freya, Guille, Liv, Mariska, Micha, Michelle, Mickey, Penny, Richard, & Sharon.

Let's face it, Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without Millipede & Friends taking a festive classic, absolutely massacring it and dancing on it's grave with barely disguised glee. To this end the over optimistic volunteers gathered on the 20th of December with Mr Michael and Mr Ridgeley in their sights. The result speaks for itself.
Thanks to Ade, Ben, Ellie, Freya, Liv, Mariska, Micha, Mickey, Richard, & Sharon for their dedication to the cause.

On Saturday the 15th of December most of the top names in the music industry were garnered to recreate the classic single Do They Know It's Christmas of 23 years previous. The sheer variety of vocal styling's committed to tape that day created a whole new slant on that perennial classic.
A big thankyou goes out to Ade, Andy, Ben, Freya, Guille, Mariska, Micha, Mickey, Richard, Sharon & Susanne for their contributions.

On 16th of December Millipede & Friends once again created the definative cover of a Christmas classic, in this case John Lennons seminal 1971 work Happy Christmas (War Is Over). A big thankyou to the following for their spirited vocal contributions: Ade, Andy, Ben, Guille, Mariska, Micha, Mickey, Sharon & Susanne. |

Alternative World Cup Song |
Sensitve (as ever) to the groundswell of negative public opinion against Embrace's oblique world cup song, Millipede have come up there own no-frills alternative - 4-4-2. Entered for the Guardian competition, it can only trounce the oppostion. Thanks to Sharon and Guille for adding their vocal talents to the confection.
Critical reaction to 4-4-2:
"I can't get your song out of my head"
"wooooo - love the new track guys.... loving the sounds as always...."
"4-4-2 is class, it amused me and made me think it's a genius of a track. Top effort retro. I was having a chilled evening when I heard it and it's well livened me up."
"Very nice. I sang along all the way once I learned the words."
"It's rubbish, but I can't get it out of my head."
Merry Christmas Everybody (Christmas Single 2005) |
On the evening of the 21st of December a liberal smattering of alcohol helped to fuel an event which will surely be considered to eclipse 'Live 8' as the most important musical moment of the year, if not the decade (and a darn sight less 'earnest' at that).
The troops were garnered for a rousing rendition of Slade's 'Merry Christmas Everybody', which is destined to become the benchmark, by which all other Christmas singles will be judged.
After some intial hesitance the participants slipped effortlessly into their transient popstar personas, demanding retakes to get just the right 'feel' , before retiring to the hospitality suite and looking for a TV to throw out the window.
So it's a big thankyou to(in alphbetical order): Alice, Andy, Belinda, Guille, Mariska and Sharon, and also to Ben and Sarah, who were there in spirit even if they didn't turn up until all the recording had finished.
Merry Christmas........Everybody.

On the 5th of August, Alex married Sharon at the Royal Pavillion Brighton.
A short burst of 'Top Of The World' was incorporated into the best mans speech.
In the evening Alex was up on stage with the band 'The Bite' where he breezed through a version of 'Alright Now'.
Jason and Mark looked on in awe.
